My Story
I grew up as a farmers son in Kerry in the 1980's. This in its own right is where my story begins. Everyday I was in contact with nature and the outdoors and this was and is the life for me. At an early age I fell in love with the hedgerows on the farm which offered us shelter from those summer showers, food for free and flowers and nature that the more I knew the more I loved. The native oak and hazel woodland which offered endless hours of exploring still to this day is my favorite place to be. The rolling countryside with old meadows and gorse hillsides left their mark too. This has informed who I am today and the type of designer and landscaper I want to be.
It might sound strange but one of my earliest memories is of making drawings of our garden at home (in crayon and corn flakes box obviously) Our garden at home was very much a veg garden and football lawn with the few token 1980's heathers and conifers. This still was enough to get me interested. I loved growing the veg and soon this became my job...showed a little too much interest!!! As time went on I knew this was the career for me.
I chose to study Landscape Horticulture in UCD. This had the right mix of deign and creativity and fundamentals in horticulture. It served me well in the basics and when I graduated in 2002 my real education began.
Throughout my career I have worked in all aspects of gardening, landscaping and horticulture. I have worked in a design office, large landscape maintenance companies, landscape construction and garden centers and nurseries. I have worked for two years restoring a large seaside garden and countless private gardens. I have seen the good and not so good and have learned each and very day.
I set up my own fully insured business in 2010. Since then I have worked on a broad and varied range of projects. From traditional to modern, small to large and urban and rural. I work with each client to provide them with their dream garden. My aim is to design, build and plant the best gardens possible in my own style. I want to work with nature and not fight it and I want to enhance the gardens we live in.

I have a passion for good design. This is something I am always perfecting. From plant colour combinations to the line of a path or border and other material combinations, good design does not cost more, it just takes time and thought and knowing and loving each piece of work I do. I has a keen interest in organic and sustainable gardening. I actively promote the use of local and sustainable materials. This includes sourcing plants from local nurseries, sourcing and sawing all large timbers locally and using native species grown in Ireland. Salvaging and upcycling of materials from stones to washing machines!
